The goal of WMGSR is to help German Shorthaired Pointers in need, to place them into responsible, permanent homes, and to educate the public about the breed. Our dogs come from animal control organizations, humane societies, and owner give-up situations.
All of our rescue dogs are up to date on shots, have a micro chip put in place, spayed or nuetered, tested for heartworm and put on heart worm preventative. Our GSP's are also eligible for LP registreation through the UKC (United Kennel Club).
We strive to place our GSP's in forever homes. To do this each dog lives in a foster home and is evaluated for their temperment and to learn their personalities. Each dog will also be tested on birds to see if the dog would possibly make a good hunting companion.
Hunt training is available for an additional cost if desired by the adopting family.
At this time we only place in the state of Michigan. Please contact us if you live outside of our state and would like help getting in contact with a rescue group in your area.
